We welcome you to Bergen and the 31st Congress
on Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine
June 15 - 17th 2011!
Dear colleague!
It is our privilege to invite you to Bergen and the 31. congress of the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care in June 2011!
SSAI is the joint society of the Nordic Anaesthesia and Intensive care societies (Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden), and includes also emergency medicine and pain. Biannually SSAI host a congress, rotating between the five countries. Bergen last hosted the SSAI congress in 1969.
Bergen (pop 250.000) is the second largest city in Norway, situated at the Western coast of Norway, often called “The gateway to the Fjords”. In June, we have a special mixture of summer (at the shores), spring (inland) and still snow in the higher mountains.
Why come to the SSAI congress.
We have three reasons why you should come:
1) It’s a medium sized compact congress. The number of participants usually varies from 4-800. The congress will cover all important aspects of anaesthesiology: anaesthesia, intensive care, emergency medicine and pain!
2) Bergen and the Norwegian West coast in June are worth to explore, why not bring your family for a vacation at the same time?
3) We have developed a special concept for the 2011 congress. Almost a half of the congress time will be devoted to simulation, which we plan to incorporate as a natural part of the congress, with no “add on fees”. Hence we will have three parallel simulation sessions throughout the entire congress: one in anaesthesia, one for intensive care and one for emergency medicine. In addition we will have more than 30 ordinary plenary sessions varying from small symposia to interactive voting sessions.
On behalf of SSAI and the local congress committee!
Hans Flaatten, professor
Congress president
